Now that outside is opening back up more and more, I am getting out of the house more and more. I have always loved clothes and fashion and truth be told, pandemic dressing was rather boring and I was getting tired of yoga pants.
However, now I am visiting clients and going into the office a little more and have need to get dressed. One of the things that quickly became clear was that putting together outfits is a muscle that has to be worked or you can lose the skill and the passion. When I first returned to working outside of my home, I actually resented having to get dressed! However, as I left the house more I started to recapture the fun of dressing.
WHAT IS MY STYLE
People sometimes ask me how I would describe my style and I have yet to come up with what I would consider to be an accurate answer! I believe the best answer for me is that I insist on my clothes being comfortable. I don’t do itchy or too tight or too loose or too anything. It doesn’t matter how cute something is I will not wear it if it is not comfortable. That goes for clothing and shoes-no suffering for fashion!! Other than that, I think my style leans toward classic with trendy vibes. I enjoy watching the trends and seeing what works for me. I’m definitely not one to try every trend.
Below are outfits that I’ve worn recently. Generally, I like what I wear and how I put things together. However this time, I’ve included an outfit that I was NOT happy with. This sometimes happens. I’ll share with you what I didn’t like.
OUTFIT ONE
This is a pretty easy, casual outfit. Black and grey play nicely together. Nothing in this photo is new except for the shoes-in fact both the pants and shirt are several years old.
The shoes are a sandal with cork which makes them very comfortable to wear.
OUTFIT TWO
This dress is not new and I may have shown it on the blog in the past. This is an example of what I like to wear especially when I have no bandwidth to think about putting an outfit together. One piece dressing is the best!!
This necklace is relatively new. It’s very simple-just a gold lock pendant.
OUTFIT THREE
This is a casual Friday type of outfit and for as simple as it is I really love it. I think the frayed jeans elevates this from being too casual as do the leopard flats. The camel colored shirt is a nice combination with the jeans and the shoes.
OUTFIT FOUR
Here’s another casual Friday type outfit. I’m actually not sure if I wore this on a Friday or not. Since I don’t have to go into court right now, I can dress a bit more casually.
These are skinny jeans where the previous jeans are considered a “boyfriend” or “girlfriend” cut. Those tend to be looser as opposed to skinny jeans which fit close to the body.
The shirt is plaid and ties at the waist which is good for defining the waist and not being baggy (which can sometimes look messy).
You get a better look at the shoes which debuted in outfit #1.
Again, nothing is new in these photos (except for the shoes). This shirt and jeans I have had for a good while.
OUTFIT FIVE
There is nothing particularly striking about this outfit. It works well for me because the shirt is sleeveless and the pants are cropped at the ankle. This is a good summer into fall outfit with the addition of this light weight duster (which you’ve seen before). This outfit also works well for being in different temperatures. I may visit a client and the temperature is 75 degrees and then drive 30 minutes north where it’s 65 degrees. Layering is essential!
In this first photo I have on long gold earrings which go nicely with the red shirt. I am also wearing my neutral flats that have been on this blog a million times! These are the shoes I typically wear when I don’t want to think about which shoes to wear. I wear them with everything-pants, jeans, dresses, skirts.
OUTFIT SIX
And now we come to the outfit that I wasn’t crazy about. I will preface this by saying that I like all of the pieces individually but together this outfit makes me look frumpy.
There’s nothing particularly offensive about this outfit-you can see my oft worn neutral flats, plain black pants, white camisole and long plaid shirt. I’m not surprised that I wore this outfit on this day because I in fact was feeling lazy and frumpy and wanted to not have to go out this day!
I am once again having fun getting dressed on the days that I’m working outside of my home. I look forward to sharing more in the future. I’d also like to hear from you-do you have a favorite of these outfits? What are your thoughts about fashion, dressing, etc…? Share in the comments.
