The year long decluttering project continues. My goal is to work methodically and consistently to rid of my home and extraneous and unnecessary items. In January, I decluttered the items under my bed. I have to admit that I was really pumped to start this project and I really thought that I would be farther along by now. However, I got a little complacent and didn’t do anything for awhile but now I’m back into the swing of things and want to keep this momentum going. My other game plan was to start with smaller areas so that I don’t get overwhelmed with larger spaces. However, I’m re-thinking that plan. I think with larger spaces I simply need to break it down into smaller chunks. If I wait, I’ll never get to the larger spaces.
On to this month’s project-decluttering my water bottles! Like many people, once reusable bottles became a thing, I started collecting them through various activities like conferences, races, concerts, etc…Where ever you go, someone has a water bottle to give you.
No one needs as many bottles as I had and I usually only used a handful. My “favorite” bottle would change over time and then I wouldn’t really use my old faves.
I decided that I would keep about 7 bottles including ones that I typically use for travel. I prefer taking a smaller bottle when I travel because I don’t want to lug around a 16 or 18 ounce size.
Which bottles are the best? I personally have no preference but the internet does!
Bottles Galore

As you can see from these photos, my water bottle “collection” mostly lives on the top shelf my cabinet. Some lay on their sides because they’re too tall for the cabinet. There are also some tumblers and other bottles on the bottom shelf. I also house my extensive coffee mug collection here which is a separate issue that will be dealt with in the future. I have plans!!!
Extraction

This is what the cabinet looks like full of bottles and then without the bottles. I also store my medication and vitamins here because I take these with my evening meal and like to have them close!
I kept a large and small size travel coffee mug, a blender bottle, a 49er tumbler for hot and cold liquids, 2 water bottles and also put my ninga blender containers here. 2 bottles that I kept that are not pictured are 1 bottle that I keep on my desk and my current favorite water bottle that is in use.
Ready for New Homes

Here is what will be going to the donation center to find new homes. The hardest bottles to get rid of for me are the sports ones. I love my local sports teams but I realized that I rarely used the water bottles. I often use the coffee mugs but not the bottles or tumblers as much. I will happily turn them over to be used and loved by new people.
So the year of decluttering part two is in the books. What’s next? The 2 I have in queued up are a shelf in the linen closet or a box in my primary bedroom. Stay tuned.
