February Reading Stats and One Challenging Book

Hello! I’m back with my reading stats for February. My life has been very busy and I’ve been trying hard to keep up with reading and listening to books. The listening is going pretty well but the reading has been challenging. I don’t know if it’s the books I chose or just finding the time and energy to sit down and read.
Anyway, I’ve really been happy with most of the books I’ve been reading or listening and am hoping to pick up the reading pace in March and beyond.

The Storied Life of AJ Fickry

I read this book for one of my book clubs and thoroughly enjoyed it. The story had everything-love, loss, death, birth, mystery, intrigue and on and on. Even though I was devastated at certain parts in the book, the story flowed nicely and everything was relevant and made sense.

One Death at a Time

Needing a break from my more dark, mystery thrillers, I went with a light weight mystery and it did not disappoint. This book deals with some serious subjects like alcoholism and recovery but does it with lots of humor. Even the deaths that occur are funnier than they are sad. I’ve read other books by the author and have enjoyed them. I’ve read The Bookish Life of Nina Hill and the Garden of Small Beginnings both of which I recommend.

His & Hers

Ok, here is another book which is tied to a Netflix series though this is a different author. And, yes, I chose this book because of the tie in to the Netflix series though I’ve read a couple of her books before and have enjoyed them. I’ve read Daisy Darker and Rock, Paper, Scissors again both of which I’d recommend. They are in the mystery, psychological thriller vein though not nearly as dark as some others.

I Have Some Questions for You

I was looking for something different to read and settled on this book because years ago I read a book by this author and absolutely loved it. This book also did not disappoint. It’s a mystery but it’s also about people finding themselves and figuring out who they are and what they value. The ending is frustrating only because it’s so realistic.

El Dorado Drive

This was the challenging book for me. I tried really hard to get through it and even renewed it with the library but I just could not get in to it. I think that the story really was just not that interesting to me. The characters weren’t all that interesting and I felt no need to either root for them or despise them. I tried to finish but alas this one ends up as a DNF for me.

Forward we go!! As always, if you have any book recommendations please put them in the comments.
