APRIL SMALL GOALS

Goals tracking

Let’s take a look at where we stand as we begin this 4th month of 2019. As you’ll recall, I set monthly goals that facilitate the completion of my overall annual goals. This year, I’ve divided them into categories to help me focus better on what I’d like to accomplish.
To begin, we’ll go over March goals and see how I did.

MARCH RESULTS
Home
Clean out inside t-shirt drawer (SUCCESS). If you read my last post, then you know I not only completed the t-shirt drawer but 2 other drawers as well.
Clean out bra/underwear drawer (SUCCESS).
Office Closet Clean Out (SUCCESS). This job was as big as I thought it would be and even bigger than I imagined! I have a post upcoming with all of the details. Suffice it to say, one thing led to another which led to another and so on.
Fitness/Health
Blood sugar tracking at least 3 times per week totaling 12 times for the month. (PARTIAL SUCCESS). I managed 10 of 12 times this month. It was still better than the previous month and I am starting to get into a rhythm. The goal is to create a habit which is what I’m working toward.
Strength training twice per week totaling 8 times for the month (PARTIAL SUCCESS). I got close! This month I managed 7 of 8 times. Again, it’s about habit creation so every step I take forward is worth it.
Eat fast food no more than 5 times in the month. (SUCCESS). I thought this one would be way harder but in fact it was much easier than I thought. I made sure to make my lunch the night before and ended up only eating fast food 3 times for the month. This goal is intended to help motivate me to meal plan especially my lunches as I tend to eat much better when I bring my lunch. It also helps to keep my blood sugar and calories in check.

Spiritual
Finish another self help book on my Audible app (SUCCESS). I listened to #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso who is the founder of the clothing retailer Nasty Gal. I did not like this book at all. It is about her life experience coming from being a high school drop out to starting this company that began life as an EBay store. Part business book and part inspirational, I found nothing interesting nor would I take any advice from her. The book was read by someone other than the author and I did not care for her voice. I thought it would be of interest because the author is from the Sacramento area but it annoyed me that the narrator mispronounced some local cities and streets. In any event, I finished it and added a check mark as completed!!

Financial
Call Comcast to ask for a bill reduction (FAIL). I still plan to do this but time just got away from me. By the time you’re reading this, I should have completed this task.  I’ll follow up next month.
Creativity
Spend 30 minutes per week working on organizing my digital photos (FAIL). I spent zero time on this goal. Honestly, I was just VERY busy with the office closet clean out and spent every free minute working on it.

APRIL GOALS

  • Home
Fix the door to the laundry room. The door has been off of the track for several months now. It is time for me to either fix it or pay to have someone fix it.
Reorganize the linen closet. The space does not need to be de-cluttered. I completed that last year. However, it has become the catch all for when I don’t know where to put something if I just want to get something out of the way.
Master bath-choose the wall color for my master bath renovation as well as the paint color for my cabinets.
  • Health/Fitness
    Blood sugar-3 times per week
    Strength Training-2 times per week
    Exercise-12 times per month
  • Spiritual
Meditate for 5 minutes per day at least 3 times per week. I know that 5 minutes per day is not a lot but it is a starting point. I know that I can find 5 minutes of quiet time.
I have continued my daily gratitude journaling and will continue to listen to books as I can. I want to try meditation as a way to calm my mind.
  • Creativity
Make 1 traditional scrapbook page. As I was cleaning out the office closet, I was rearranging and organizing lots of craft supplies. As often happens when I haven’t crafted for awhile, I get antsy to make something. Now that everything is in its place, it’s time to play.
  • Financial
Pay off one personal loan. I have a loan that if I do nothing is scheduled to be paid off in October. Removing this debt from my credit profile however is a better decision.

Here’s to another month of getting things done!
