Tuesday, July 17 was my 56th birthday! I am a girl who likes to celebrate my birthday and every one else’s, too. As adults, there are few occasions when you get to be celebrated and the birthday comes around every year (until it doesn’t-womp, womp). Let me say right off the bat that I do not understand people who don’t like to celebrate or acknowledge their birthdays. Admittedly, the person who gave birth may have more of a connection to the actual birth-date but we were there, too!
I don’t like to just celebrate on my birthday, I actually like to celebrate for the entire month. It doesn’t have to be any big, elaborate celebration. I really just like to acknowledge and celebrate more than one day. And, I like to let other people celebrate me if they want to.
So far, I have gone to a Big 3 basketball game event, watched an SF Giants game at a local pub with some friends, had a couple of dinners at a local restaurants with friends, got taken to lunch by a work colleague and had dinner with a friend from high school. One of the most fun & exciting things to happen was for the first time ever, I FaceTimed with my dear friend, George! I don’t know why but I had never FaceTimed before!! George and his family live in New York so we don’t see each other in person much these days. It was a wonderful experience and I will be doing more face timing!
For the remainder of the month, I plan to have a fun creative experience at a scrapbook store, have a birthday brunch with my book club babes, go to see Mamma Mia with some friends, welcome my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew for a visit, go to see my niece perform “In the Heights”, and attend a new to me book club.
Here’s to another 365 days of living, loving and doing whatever I can (and want) to live a good, grateful & creative life.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!
Tell me, which side do you land on ? Birthday celebrator or birthday forgettor?? Share in the comments.
