I have finally made it to the end of cleaning out the primary closet. You can see Part 1 and Part 2 here.
This final stage was to deal with the upper shelves and the wall. This included my purses, my lounge wear and my general “just put it here” area which sits on top of my shoe cubbies.
Here is the starting point for these 3 areas:

I decided to start with the lounge wear area. As usual, I removed everything first. My thought process for this area was pretty straight forward. During COVID, I became enamored of lounge wear! I also do not like wearing outside clothes while inside preferring to wear what I term my “comfy” clothes. And, like with everything else, I enjoy having options. I prefer joggers and yoga pants and I like to have long ones for cooler seasons and shorter styles for the warmer months. I also have a few thick sweatshirts on this shelf. Additionally, I have a few lounge sets that I enjoy wearing and often wear these when running errands.

FYI-the bucket next to the shelf divider holds all of my swim wear/accessory items. It is doing its job well and does not need any changes.

I believe I mentioned in Part 2 that I have some lounge pants in one of my drawers. I did in fact remove several pair of of pants from this drawer. Some are now housed on the shelf and some were donated. I didn’t do anything with this drawer but when I get to this 5 drawer dresser, I will straighten it all out.
Also, in deciding which pants I would keep or not, I decided that I wanted to keep pants with pockets. Whether short or long, I find that I am always leaning towards pants that have pockets.
The Finished Shelf-Lounge Pants & Sets

The pants to the left are the short pants, the middle houses the longer pants and the items on the right are my sets. I moved the sweatshirts to the rack because I had plenty of space!
Purses and Stuff
I had so many purses that they were of course spilling over and falling off of the shelf. I also was only using part of the shelves I put up for smaller bags. Also, because there was no more room on the shelf, I started putting bags and other stuff over on the wall hooks. It looked cluttered and disorganized and I really want it to be a space that doesn’t stress me out.

On top of the 2 drawer unit, I intend to leave it basically as is. It’s housing my steamer, stain remover, lint roller and other things you need in a closet. And as usual, I moved all of the purses and bags to make some decisions about what to keep or not. Believe it or not, it wasn’t that difficult to determine what to keep or not. I am a sentimental person and getting rid of things can sometimes be tricky for me. But this time, it was not. If you’re in my Babes Bookclub, you’ll have the opportunity to claim a bag if you want!

It’s not pinterest perfect, but the larger bags are facing the closet which keeps them from hanging over the side. I was able to move 2 pair of boots up to the shelf and get them off of the floor!

It’s a little hard to see but the boots are black and all the way to the left. One pair is my combat boots and the other pair is a heeled boot but the shaft is bent over. I need to get some more pool noodles to stand them up straight. Fun tip: rather than buy those expensive boot standers, get a couple of pool noodles from the Dollar Tree, cut each noodle into 3 pieces and use one in each boot to keep the shafts standing straight up! That is what is inside of my boots that you can see on the shelf.
And We’re Done!
It is so hard to take a full picture of my closet. It looks nice and clean and organized and I am happy with the result.

I also did a panoramic photo to try and get the full view.

Not perfect but it works well for me!
Thanks for going along with me on this closet journey!!
