Here is part 2 of my cleaning out of my primary closet. These next couple of posts will not be nearly as dramatic as Part One. One of the reasons is because I managed to stuff a ton a clothing on the pants/dress side and this current side already had space to have more items so it just doesn’t even look as crammed. That’s good because it really only took about 20 minutes to go through the items. I didn’t even have to take items out; I just went through them one by one because there was more than enough space to work.
I opted to declutter by like items instead of doing the whole closet at once because I just find that process too overwhelming. It takes much longer and I think that the items being decluttered toward the end don’t get as much thought about whether to keep them or not.

This side of the closet has 2 rods instead of just one. Of course, this enables you to have more but in fact it’s simply more practical and efficient. The top level houses items like my body suits, sweaters and cardigans, lounge wear and athletic wear. I also keep any extra hangers here at the front of the closet.
On the 2nd level in the front, I keep the few skirts that I have and then my shirts and blouses organized by color.

BEFORE

AFTER

There is not a ton of difference between the before and after! In the 1st photo you can see all of the extra hangers I now have after going through my pants, dresses and shirts. In the 2nd photo you can see the few skirts that I have.

DONATION

This is the small pile of clothing items that I have for donation!

Up next, I will deal with decluttering the upper shelves. On the right side of the closet, I have matching lounge sets, short legged sweats and long legged sweats and sweat shirts. I keep both short and long legged shirts for the different seasons!
On the left side of the closet, are my bags, purses and backpacks. It’s been a little while since I’ve gone through these so we’ll see how much there is to get rid of.
I also plan to go through my 5 drawer dresser at some point and there may be changes made to where some items are housed.

Stay tuned for Part 3 and the conclusion of the primary closet clean out.
