Fashion for the Average Senior Woman!

Often times it seems that fashion is geared towards the young as if us “older” folks have no interest in fashion. I will admit that I am not as interested as I used to be but I still like to look current and be comfortable. I’m not necessarily interested in standing out though I do enjoy seeing how others put outfits and accessories together.

My title is sort of tongue in cheek in that yes, I am the average consumer and I also meet the criteria as a senior person. However, my spirit is young and my fashion is uniquely me. My daily choices may not be super interesting or exciting but I do wear items that I feel good in and are comfortable to me.

Average Senior #1

I love this dress. It’s comfortable, easy to wear and can go through the seasons. Naked legs when it’s warm and tights and boots when it’s cold. The dress goes well with boots, flats and sneakers.

And like many great dresses, it has pockets!! I’ve paired it with some sling back flats but have also worn this dress with sneakers. This dress is pretty average in terms of style but can definitely be accessorized to dress it up!

On this day, I paired the dress with an oversized blazer but most any jacket or cardigan works with this dress.

Average Senior #2

Another average outfit that is comfortable and cute! I’ve paired some lightly pinstriped wide legs pants with a plain white t-shirt. I’m wearing sneakers today but I’ve worn these pants with flats, lug sole loafers, pumps and kitten heels.

These are also the type of slacks that can be worn with many types of shirts in many types of colors. Black and white may be average colors but they are also classic.

Oh look! It’s the oversized blazer again. This time I’ve added a flower pin for fun and interest.

Average Senior #3

Camo pants are generally not considered average but they are considered a neutral. I’m pairing these pants with a more feminine top for some contrast. It’s a fun outfit to wear.

For shoes, I’m wearing some tan flats with an ankle strap.

This is a fun outfit that can also be paired with ballet flats, sneakers, clogs, and even heels. For outdoor wear, a moto jacket definitely fits the bill but so does a blazer, a cardigan, or a duster. The options are endless.

Average Senior #4

This soft denim skirt is paired with a navy t-shirt and ankle western boots. Easy and average!

This is another outfit than can be dressed up or down. It can also be worn with flats or sneakers or wedges.

This is also another outfit that can go through the seasons. Flats, flip flops and a tank top paired with this skirt make it an easy summer wear as well.

Average Senior #5

This final outfit is likely the most average and senior of them all. However, it is very comfortable and perfect for days when you need to get dressed quickly and want to feel a little put together. It’s also good for days when you aren’t full of body confidence.

I love this oversized shirt paired with these knit pants. Again, classic black and white but paired with leopard ankle tie flats. If you need something to wear over the shirt, a moto jacket, a cardigan or a duster works wonders.

I also love the length of this shirt in the back. It definitely covers the bottom and goes down to the thighs.

I don’t believe that interest in fashion or caring about how you look is tied to age at all. I do think it’s important to develop your own sense of style and try different looks every now and again. I am working on finding different ways to wear my clothes to create different looks. Just like anything else, this takes practice. Once I clean out my closet and see what I’m working with, I’ll spend some time working on outfits!!
