Project Update-Bedroom Drawers

Just a quick update post today. I finally decluttered and cleaned out 2 bedroom drawers. It’s definitely one of those tasks that doesn’t take a long time but it’s also a task that is easy to put off!
I hope I remember not only how easy it is to clean out a drawer but also how much nicer it is to get dressed when you can see what you have.

On this day, I decided to update my t-shirt drawers. Now, I don’t know how other people do it but I have 2 drawers for t-shirts; 1 for shirts I wear outside of the house and 1 for shirts that I only wear inside the home including shirts for messy projects like painting. It may be overkill and while I was cleaning out the 2nd in the house only drawer, I had a little talk with myself about how I likely don’t require an entire drawer for these types of shirts. But that is another thought for another day!

Drawer Update #1 or Out of the House Shirts

This drawer was stuffed full with t-shirts. Old, new, folded, etc…I could not see what I had and started wearing what was on top which means that I was wearing the same handful of shirts.

I also had a couple of new t-shirts that I wanted to add in to the drawer.
And as usual, what do I do? Pull everything out, decide what to keep and what to donate and then fold the t-shirts back into the drawer.

I fold my t-shirts the Marie Kondo way. It’s called the file folder method so that you can see what shirts you have without having to move any of the others. She also claims that you can get more in with this method. The other good thing that I like is that it’s clear when no more t-shirts can fit into the drawer. Usually that means that you should not add more until you get rid of some! Clearly, I don’t always follow that rule.

After clearing out the first drawer, I very nicely folded the t-shirts that will be finding new homes. I thanked them for their service and packaged them away!

Drawer Update #2 or In the House Shirts

Again, yes, I have a whole drawer full of shirts that I wear to work on projects, clean the house, work on craft projects, etc…I do this so that I do not wear out my other clothes too quickly. These are t-shirts that I don’t mind if they get dirty, stained, have paint on them or whatever. Do I need a whole drawer? No, I don’t but I have no plans to change it up at this point. See me later in 2025 to see if I’ve decided to do anything about it!

I have a lot of these “extra” shirts mostly because I’ve received them from craft conventions, conferences or are old shirts that I bought at one point but they became unwearable outside for some reason.

I had a big huge pile of these “extra” shirts. I decided to completely toss out any t-shirts that had paint stains, were soiled or had simply seen better days. I decided that I have more than enough “extra” shirts that are still in decent shape that there was no need to t-shirts that were trashed.
And then I folded and returned the winners to their drawer.

Look at this! I have space in this drawer. What else can I put in here? I see a space and want to fill it. Just kidding! I’m leaving this space as is.

So, that’s it for now. I managed to clean out 2 drawers. I definitely still have more to do but it will wait until January 2025. My underwear drawer needs a sprucing up as does one of the drawers for my fitness gear.
Also, my tall dresser with 5 drawers needs some work. 4 of the 5 drawers need a good going through.

One last look:

2 drawers cleaned out with t-shirts ready to wear! I am also very happy that I was able to get this done during this very busy time of year. It brings just a little extra calm and less chaos to my life.

Hope your day is a good one! Thanks for reading.
