I’m starting off strong with my monthly memory keeping!! For the uninitiated, I do an annual memory keeping project called Project Life. You can do this project digitally as I do or with physical project. I used to do the physical version but found myself getting stressed out and getting behind. I had to print out the photos, chose the other pieces and put it all together. It took much longer than doing it digitally so I decided to make the move to digital. If you look at the website, you can see all of the products available in both the digital and physical version.
Project Life is a form of scrapbooking but with a memory keeping bent. I’ve said in the past and it remains true today, I really love looking back at past years and seeing what my days and months look like. For me, the point of doing this project is to focus not necessarily on the big life events but the ordinary day-to-day events that make up a life. The boring, everyday, not so special days of our lives. I find myself feeling grateful for my life even when it’s not going the way I want it to. This is certainly not the only way to do memory keeping but it is the one that resonates with me.
I’m trying to get better at including more current events and news worthy stories in addition to my daily life. When someone looks back years from now, I’d like there to be some context to what my life is like. I also hope that my descendants (or others) get a sense of what it’s like to be me. I started Project Life in 2010 and plan to continue until I don’t want to!!!
JANUARY 2024–Project Life
JANUARY 1-7
JANUARY 8-14
JANUARY 15-21
JANUARY 22-28
JANUARY 29-31
It’s hard to believe that January is already over and this month is almost done. I mostly enjoyed this first month of the year and was busy as much as I wanted to be. I attended events that were important to me and spent time with people that mean much to me. For me, that’s a great month.
What about you? Do you have any memory keeping practices? Even a practice that is less involved than mine? In this world of disappearing messages, I think it’s more important than ever to cherish and save our memories. Share any plans or thoughts in the comments.
