JANUARY REVIEW
HOME
*start laundry closet makeover–DONE. I chose a couple of paint samples and the wallpaper.
*finish guest room closet declutter–IN PROGRESS. I did not get the whole thing completed but I did put some work in on this space.
*get rid of the filing cabinet in the guest room–NOPE. I am going to need some help getting it out of my home so I will ask for help in the future with this one. There are other things to get done first.
*Re-organize my personal desk space–DONE.
*Re-organize my work desk space–DONE. I’m not going to show this side as I deal with lots of confidential information. You can sort of see the space on the right side though. Previously, there had been lots of paper and paper sorters and stacks of stuff on the side.
CREATIVE
*Make birthday cards for January family and friends–DONE
HEALTH/FITNESS
*20-25 minutes on my walking pad or other movement daily-Well, this goal did not work out as well as I would have liked. What I do know is that I started off strong, got off track, and then got hurt. I did manage to get in 7 movement sessions. Another thing that was brought to my attention (thanks, Michyle) was that my movement did not have to be cardio; it could have been strength training as well. I had limited my thinking about what counted as movement.
*stop eating by 8pm each night 4 days per week–DONE. I actually surprised myself and not just being able to stop eating by 8 pm each night but that I actually enjoyed having an end time. Admittedly, I did not always enjoy the planning and the preparation (though at times I did). I did enjoy not thinking about food about 8 pm and focusing on other tasks.
FINANCIAL
*complete January budget with income and expenses–DONE
*record all spending at least weekly–DONE
*no spend 5 days per week for the month–NOT SURE. I did well initially tracking my no spend days but then I got off track when I bought gas or went to the grocery store, etc…I did track that I had at least 10 no spend days in January. The other goal was to not spend impulsively especially at Amazon. And I am pleased to say that I did not do any Amazon spending or impulsive spending. One day I was at the craft store, replenishing a needed product and I picked up a couple of things that were on a great sale. As I was walking towards the check out, I reminded myself that I wasn’t allowed to buy the item great sale or not. The item was not something on my future purchase list; it was just something that I thought would be helpful in my craft space-definitely not a need!! I put the items back, purchased the item I actually needed and left the store.
Overall, not too bad for the start of the year. I got some things done, learned some lessons, and made some new plans.
FEBRUARY GOALS
For this month, my goals will be less ambitious but more focused. This year, I really want to work on getting projects done from start to finish before moving on to a new one. I can already feel myself getting scattered thinking about ALL of the things I want to get done! Focus, focus, focus and finish!
HOME
Movement *declutter the stationary closet
*move forw
ard on the laundry closet makeover
*take items to Goodwill
The focus goal here is that if I’m not working on the laundry closet makeover, then I should be working on the stationary closet declutter!
CREATIVE
*make cards for friends and family
HEALTH/FITNESS
*movement 4 times per week (12)-the focus here is just move, whatever that looks like. I want movement to become more of a habit.
FINANCIAL
*complete February budget
*track spending weekly
No surprise, but the focus here is to develop good, consistent budget habits.
Running to Do List (RTDL)
In my Annual Goals post, I talked about keeping a running to do list. These are those little things that you keep putting off but will likely only take a little while to do. My plan is to update this list each month with what I’ve gotten done and what may have been added.
- -clean makeup brushes (then schedule regularly)
- –declutter makeup
- -clean behind the stove
- -clean behind the refrigerator
install magnifying mirror in the primary bath- -install new shower head in primary bath
- -remove broken shower head in guest bath
- -install another shower head in guest bath
- -print 2022 Project Life pages
- -put 2022 Project Life pages into an album
- -print 2023 Project Life pages
- -put 2023 Project Life pages into an album
- -hem maxi dress
- -touch up the paint in the primary bath
I wanted to have this mirror in my bathroom because I wear contacts. I need the magnifying mirror and good lighting to get them in properly. Also when I drop them, I can see where they fall. I have been using my make up mirror which is ok but when the lenses fall, they either land on my dark brown dresser or on my rug! This mirror is also working out well for my skin care and dental hygiene routines. I absolutely love it!
Chapter 1 of 12 is complete. I look forward to getting more things done including more things on my rtdl as well.
