I have another minor project update to share with you! As I’ve shared, I’m working on cleaning out my primary closet. I have too many clothes as evidenced by no longer having extra hangers and having to hang clothes on the back of my door! It’s too big of a project to do all at once so I’m breaking it up into a minimum of 30 minute intervals each week.
I also removed several pair of shoes from the floor that I kept tripping over!
The task that takes the longest is trying on clothing to make sure that it fits so that I can keep it. I am trying on every piece of clothing to make sure that it fits and that I like the way it looks.
THE START
My closet has the foundation of organization. The left side actually has a lot of room remaining for clothing (or not) which is why is doesn’t look at messy. The right side has this organizing thing that I took out because it was taking up so much space. The organizer is something I “thought” would be helpful but so far, not so much! You’ll see a picture of it later.
Overall, I like how my closet is organized, I just don’t / like that it’s stuffed! I also have some dresses in her that are memories and not going to be worn again so I think I’m going to pack them away. You never know-they might end up in a museum (or be used as a halloween costume in the future as old time dressing)!
This is a close up shot of the right side. The clothing is much more organized because I have space here. However, there are items that don’t belong here and need to go to their rightful homes in either this closet or the coat closet.
This is the right side that is stuffed beyond belief and where this hanging organizer used to live. I took it out mainly so I’d have some room to work. I started with the items in front of the organizer which is where pants and jeans live as well as some lounge wear items. Additionally, there are pants hanging on the right side that need to be on this side as well.
So, I pulled the items out took them off of their hangers and tried on the pants I want to keep. I actually found a couple that I hadn’t worn in a while because I couldn’t see them!
During this process, I realized that I prefer these wood hangers vs the white plastic ones. The green ones are okay as well. Jeans tend to be heavy and they slip off of the clips which makes for a disorganized and aggravating space. I plan to replace the white hangers with more wood ones and donate the white ones.
This is a pile of jeans and other pants that I am keeping. Pants being donated were put straight into the donation box.
Next on the list are the dresses and the long items. As I’m typing this, I realize that I also went through my skirts as well but I didn’t photo it (but it still counts)!! I don’t have a ton of skirts so it was easy to and not very time consuming to go through them.
After the dresses, the left side will be done. I’m am hoping that I will create enough room for my other pants (mostly work slacks).I like my pants to hang long and not folded over.
I’d like to finish out at least the clothing before the month ends.
I’ll still need to go through the shoes and the sweats that are on the shelf.
I’m please with my progress so far and look forward to making a big dent in this project soon. Any thoughts or ideas? Share in the comments.
