I’m here today with an update on my laundry closet makeover. Now don’t get too excited as there’s not a lot new yet but there is movement in the right direction.
In my last post about this makeover, I showed you some mood boards for inspiration and also shared with you the machines that I purchased.
STARTING POINT
The machines are scheduled to be installed on November 14th. I’m holding my breath that there are no delays. I will be doing some traveling around this time and look forward to this delivery being on time.
In order to have the machines installed, I will need to add a 220 Outlet for the dryer. The washer will go into the 110 plug.
The electrician has been chosen and will be here this week! As usual, I removed everything except the machine to prepare for the electrical work and the makeover.
I opted to put everything in my guest bathroom utilizing the bath tub for the housing cleaning tools and accessories. Normally, I put everything in my guest room/office when I’m working on a room but it starts to feel so claustrophobic and cluttered. My guest bathroom is rarely used so it was the perfect alternative. The toilet can still be used if necessary, though.
PREPARATION
It’s so interesting to see the closet with everything out! It gives me a real sense of how small the space actually is. I’m not sure if I mentioned it here yet but I decided not to fully start the makeover until the machines are actually installed. I can’t really make decisions until I see how the machines are going to be set up-will they face front side by side, will the be stacked, will they face each other, will they be stacked facing front or sideways. So, the closet will stay like this until the machines are installed.
CHANGES, CHANGES AND MORE CHANGES
It is my hope that the machines can face front, side by side. If not, my second choice is that the machines are stacked and pushed as far back as possible leaving lots of space for storage in front. One of my annoyances with this current (19 years) set up is that the machine sits kind of in the middle of the closet leaving inadequate space on both sides. It has made for a very tight squeeze!! I’ve made do for all of these years but now I want something more to my liking. I’m also hoping that because everything is new and updated the hoses will be much smaller. The new dryer is ventless so this fat silver hose will go away!
And because I still need to be able to do laundry between now and then, I also moved the stuff to do laundry into the guest bath!
DAY TO DAY NEEDS
Though it looks a mess (these clothes are clean and need to be folded and put away), because the guest bath is right across the hall from the laundry closet, it is quite a convenient location.
I’m so happy to be able to provide this update. It means that things are moving forward and that hopefully there will be more significant updates soon!!
