Fall might be my favorite time of year for fashion. Even though it doesn’t get brutally cold where I live, I like to layer clothing which gives many options for playing with different clothing styles.
Boots, jeans, leggings, lightweight sweaters and even scarves warm my heart.
I’ve gathered together some items from Pinterest of looks that I like and may try to re-create. Some of the items pictured are not my style at all and I likely would not wear them. However, I think it’s important to look at styles that aren’t you and see if there’s anything you like-a specific clothing item, a color palette, the way something is put together, etc…I have seen pairings of items that I would have never thought to pair. For example, I am not a huge fan of the silky/satin dress or skirt trend but I am finding that I like the satin skirt with a t-shirt or even a sweater! The combination of the soft of the satin with the heavier texture is appealing to me.
From the look of this photo, you might think that jeans are it for the fall. Not true but they are a staple and many of us have several types of jeans. I have skinny jeans, boot cute, wide leg, and even ankle length. And, I have them in various washes though I tend toward the medium and dark washes.
Though I don’t wear animal prints myself, I do like them. And I like them as pictured above, more casual than dressy.
I love this photo because it has different looks and styles. In the fall, you have the opportunity to wear sneakers, short boots, tall boots, long sweaters and even pumps. I live in a mild climate so there are many opportunities to wear dresses and skirts even in October and November.
As much as I love fall neutrals like camel and black, I am a girl who loves to wear a pop of color with my neutrals. Bright colors look great in the fall amongst everyone else wearing neutrals.
While I do enjoy fashion and love playing with color and style, I do believe what is most important is to (1) wear clothes that fit regardless of what the tag size says and (2) be comfortable in your clothes.
I also think it’s okay (and fun) to play with outfits and styles that are out of your comfort zone. Nothing bad will happen!!
Shoes and bags are also a big part of fall but I won’t go into those now. Looking at these photos you can see that you can wear any kind of shoes you want with these outfits!!
You can also see that it doesn’t take much to recreate some of these outfits. The fun is in seeing if you can use a few items and put them together in fun and different ways.
