It’s goal review time!! I usually like this part even when I don’t meet my goals and this month is no different. However, I know that I did not achieve as many goals and I wanted so I will try and relay the information with as little judgement as possible.
I believe that I mentioned in my September post, that I had a few trips scheduled this month and that my life would be busy. And, that was true. I was away from home for 10 days this month which is a lot for me.
Anyway, the items that I did not get done can be moved to the next month or saved for another time. Nothing is earth shattering and life threatening; just annoying.
Let’s review what happened in September.
HOME
Master Closet Clean Out-30 minutes per week-NOPE. Honestly, I just didn’t feel like doing it but truthfully, my life will be so much better when it is done. My closet is over stuffed with clothes and shoes, there are no hangers left and I am now hanging clothes on the back of my bedroom door!
Guest Closet Clean Out-30 minutes per week-NOPE. Again, just did not feel like doing it.
For both of these tasks, I mentioned that I had hoped that setting a time limit would help me to feel less overwhelmed but the truth is that I had other tasks that I prioritized and I’m okay with that. I know that I can’t wait until I “feel” like doing it but I can pick a better time. Both are still on my list but I haven’t decided if I’ll work on them both at the same time.
Take my boots to the local cobbler to evaluate having the heel shaved down-COMPLETED. The funny thing here is that I had to remember to put the boots in the car so that I could stop by while I was out. And then it worked out better than I could have imagined. I took the boots in, he said no problem with reducing the height and then they were ready the next day!!! I had anticipated at least a couple of weeks!! I’m very happy to have had this down because I love this boots but the heels were just a smidge to tall for regular wear!
CREATIVE
Be creative just for fun–DONE. I didn’t spend as much time doing this as I would have liked but I did play a little bit!
HEALTH/FITNESS
5500 steps x 20 days-completed 21
Exercise x 6 days-completed 5
Meal Prep-pre-make waffles, brown sugar syrup and at one dinner each week. Partial-I didn’t make waffles or the brown sugar syrup because I needed ingredients and wasn’t really going grocery shopping because I was away so much. These items were also not necessities just yummies. I did make dinner at least once per week and generally ate dinner at home at least 5-6 days per week.
SPIRITUAL
Mask x 4–COMPLETED 4
Continue journaling project weekly-NOPE. I’ve been using a book through an online library and didn’t bother to re-check it out.
FINANCIAL
Do September budget-NOPE. I thought about it quite a lot but ultimately did not put pen to paper or even do anything electronically.
OCTOBER GOALS AND INTENTIONS
I have another busy month with a couple of trips scheduled, 4 on call days for work (which run 5pm-8am), and several other activities. I’m trying to prioritize what I want/need to get done this month.
HOME
*Master closet clean out-30 minutes per week
*Schedule electrician (for new dryer installation)
CREATIVE
*Decide on holiday card design
HEALTH/FITNESS
*20 minutes of movement X 25 days. I have struggled to get in movement every month. This month, I’m trying something different. I’m committing to 20 minutes of movement each day that I am home/not traveling. My plan is to use my walking pad but it can be any type of movement. I’m attempting to remove any decision making issues by using my walking pad. Of course, I can move longer and more than once per day.
My other goal is if I move more days than not, I will practice putting movement into my day or schedule and 20 minutes feels doable/not stressful.
SPIRITUAL
Mask x 8
FINANCIAL
Complete my federal and state taxes before the due date of October 16. Yes, I should have just done them when due in April but like budgeting I hate doing my taxes and always put it off until the last minute. This one is non-negotiable.
We are in the final quarter of 2023. Later this month, I will be doing a post to see where I stand with my goals. I’ll also look at what I’m likely to complete in the next 3 months and what may get moved into 2024.
What do you do? When you get to this time of year and feel that you haven’t met your goals, do you choose some to complete or do you think about moving them into the new year? Share in the comments.
