Project Update-Dresser Drawer Clean Out

dresser drawers

Another small project done!! I had this on my monthly goal list for a while now and I finally got it done. As usual, it did not take as long as I imagined it would and it was a very easy task. This dresser drawer clean out is of my exercise gear. I had a drawer for pants and one for shirts. I know it seems like a lot and it is! You’d think I was an Olympian or work out twice per day with all of the gear I had!!!
Even though this was an easy task, the reward still feels great. When I open my drawers now and pick out exercise clothes, I feel great because I can see everything and there is extra room in both drawers. I actually have another drawer that has other exercise gear and I’ll likely consolidate items from there into the other drawers.

EXERCISE BOTTOMS

There was some semblance of order in this drawer in that I had pants rolled up and long pants on one side and shorter length on the other. I have acquired some new pants though which was making the drawer tight. And, there were pants that I wasn’t wearing because I didn’t like the way they fit or they weren’t comfortable.
Everything comes out and each bottom gets evaluated.

After touching each pair, I know have a pile of keep (left photo) and donate (right photo). Clearly, I have tons of black bottoms and several on the donate pile are of the shorter length.

The bottoms being kept get rolled up and put back into the drawer. As you can see, I do have some room left. I may place my exercise bras here. These are the exercise pants I like best.

And these bottoms will be donated and hopefully find homes where they will get used more regularly!!

EXERCISE TOPS

The hardest part about going through the tops are that some of them are from races that I did throughout the years. However, a few years ago I had a blanket made with my most memorable shirts.

The shirts drawer had so many shirts that I couldn’t fully pull it open!

It’s so lovely when their all folded and ready to go into the drawer! These are the keepers and I believe I kept one or two race shirts because I like the way they feel. Not all race shirts are comfortable.

And now the shirts are in their drawer. I like to fold the shirts Marie Kondo style where the shirts stand up so you can see if there is a pattern on them. Again, you’ll note that there is room in this drawer as well. I may put my sleeveless shirts in here.

And this pile will find new homes as well! The donations are looking pretty nice!

I’m happy that I finally got this project done and look forward to getting more of these projects taken care of. I haven’t been doing a good job of getting rid of something when I bring something new in. I look the 1 in, 1 out rule! Once I get the master closet and other drawers cleaned out, I’m going to try harder to maintain that rule.

How often do you clean out your closet and drawers? Do you do it regularly or when you can’t stand it anymore (like me)??? Share in the comments.
