I had a friend in town and we had the opportunity to visit and walk the mosaic tile stairs of San Francisco. While I was born and raised in SF, these stairs did not exist then. The first stair case was completed in 2005 and the second one in 2013. The Lincoln Park stairs were completed in 2015. I think it’s wonderful that these projects were a community effort.

My friend, Michele, loved the stairs but took a small issue with them being called “mosaic”. The stairs do house some mosaic designs but in fact are more accurately described as “tiled”. This distinction does not detract from the beauty one bit.
You may be able to tell from the photos that it was a cloudy, gray and damp day during our visit. I would love the see them on a sunny, clear day.
After leaving the Lincoln Park steps, we headed to a local coffee shop to warm up.
Royal Ground Coffee is a cute little coffee shop on Clement street. We enjoyed lattes and mochas and some pastry. It was a great end to our adventures.
This was a great day doing a fun city activity! I would do it over and over again and I invite anyone in the city or coming to the city to participate in this adventure.
What do you think? Is this something you would do? Share in the comments.
A super fun exploration well worth the effort!
I would definitely do it again😁
