Books of the Month-March 2022

My book reading journey continues! I am consistently reading which is good but sometimes I use reading to procrastinate on doing other things that I “should” be doing! In any event, here are the books I read for this month.

These 3 books go together as they are a trilogy. The Rosie Project is book 1 and it is absolutely delightful. Book 2 is The Rosie Effect and it is pretty good. The Rosie Result is book 3 and it brings back some of the sweetness of book 1. My book club was reading The Rosie Project and we liked it so much we decided to read all three!
The main character of the books is Don who is incredibly smart and is likely on the spectrum but doesn’t really know it. He has a unique way of relating to people which sometimes is very sweet and sometimes gets him into trouble. Though I liked books 1 and 3 best, completing the entire series is definitely worth it.
I listened to this entire series and I think that’s the way to go. The narrator really adds something special.

Miss Benson’s Beetle by Rachel Joyce
This book is wonderful! It is the story of all types of friendships, love, relationships and life in general. The main character of this book is Miss Benson and she is on the hunt for a beetle that has been talked about but never seen. There are many reasons she wants to find this beetle and there are many people who come into and leave her life because of this search. Definitely recommend reading it. It’s a book that left a smile on my face at the end.

The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles
Another excellent book. This author also wrote A Gentleman in Moscow which I also thoroughly enjoyed. This book follows 2 brothers who have some plans that get thwarted by 2 other young men. Their lives have been tough and the brothers are looking for some peace and joy but will have to work hard to find it. Another book that I highly recommend.

Razorblade Tears by S.A. Crosby
No one is more surprised than me how much I liked this book. I had attempted to read another book by this author, Blacktop Wasteland, which was also very well reviewed but I hated it and could not get through it. I decided to read Razorblade Tears because it came highly recommended from someone whose book reviews I really respect and usually jibe with. This book captivated me right away and held me through the end. It’s a 12 hour listen but it does not drag at all.
The premise is simple-two fathers whose sons were married to one another are killed and they aim to find out why since no one else seems to be. These fathers have a lot in common but are also very different. It is their guilt and their love for their sons though that move them to action.

That’s all for this month! I continue reading and am going to try not to use reading as a procrastination crutch! Any recommendations? Share in the comments.
