Beachfront Bakery-A Murderous Macaron-Fiona Grace
My best counsel is DO NOT READ THESE BOOKS!!!! I read them because I was looking for something light and breezy as I had read a few thrillers in a row. These are described as cozy mysteries which means that the amateur sleuth is usually a woman, happens upon a crime scene and can’t resist investigating for some reason. They generally take place in a small town where most folks know one another and most of the characters are generally likable.
In all fairness, Book 1, The Killer Cupcake wasn’t awful but Book 2 put me off of wanting to read anymore of this series of which there are 6(!) books.
Malibu Rising-Taylor Jenkins Reid
I have read several books by this author and have usually liked them. This book is no different. I am not the only one who thinks this as the book is being made into a limited series for HBO. The book is about family relationships and what can happen when people aren’t honest with one another. It’s also about life and being true to oneself.
Roomies-Christina Lauren
This is another author I enjoy reading when I want something light and fun. Even though these books can be formulaic, I enjoy that this author doesn’t write damsel in distress and the woman needs a man to save her type stories. The female leads in her books (including this one) are definitely flawed but they are not weak. They always have issues that need working through (who doesn’t!) but they generally are not doormats.
The Boyfriend Project-Farrah Rochon
This book is about female friendships and how the support of friends can help sustain us as well as help us move forward. Again, another fun, light read but worth it!
Verity-Colleen Hoover
After some time spent with the light reads, we’re back with another psychological thriller. I’ve read other works by this author and enjoyed them. This one is also really good. I had a hard time figuring out and was shocked when all was revealed!
WATCHING
LUPIN-NETFLIX
This show is so good!!! It is a thriller, mystery, action show. The 3rd season has been announced and I cannot wait!
THE MORNING SHOW-Apple TV
I had been told several times by several friends to watch this show. I finally did and it is definitely worth it.
LISTENING
I continue to enjoy listening to Italian pop music more than anything else these days. These two artists are on constant rotation.
