I’m back with another update on my living room refresh. Today, I’m sharing with you the decisions I made regarding adding lighting and a new rug.
LIGHTING
As I’ve discussed in the past, while I loved my old living room color, it was very cave like especially in the winter. There is no overhead lighting so I had a couple of lamps that didn’t work all that well!
Since I didn’t want to hire an electrician and do any hard wiring, I got some plug in, hanging pendant lights. And boy, do I have enough light in this room now!
As with most purchases these days, the pendant lights are from Amazon.
RUG
One of my goals is to lighten up the room. In addition to adding more illumination, I also decided that I needed a new rug to assist with that goal.
The rug is from Rugs USA. I said in another recent post that refreshing this room has made it clear that the old carpet/flooring really needs to be replaced. Until that time though, a new rug serves the purpose of lightening up the room and covering unsightly areas!!
One decision I continue to struggle with is whether or not to update the coverings on the couch and chairs. Some days I think that I’d like to have light colored covers and other days I appreciate having some color. And, covers for couches and chairs are crazy expensive!!! The decision may become more clear when the refresh is closer to finished. Stay tuned!!!!
