May Monthly Goals-Review & Intentions

APRIL IN REVIEW

HOME
Finish craft area-DONE. It was labor intensive but I did finish it and I am very happy with the result.
Start the living room declutter-IN PROGRESS-I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked but I’m working on it.
Goodwill Run-DONE. I had a car full from bottom to top and was very happy to get rid of all of it.
Clean out dresser-DONE. This seems so long ago at this point but I did clean out the 2 drawers in the dresser in the guest room closet.

CREATIVE
Photo Organization Project-30 minutes per week-IN PROGRESS. I did do a little but did not manage 30 minutes per week. I really need to schedule this task and then set a timer.
Create a Scrapbooking station-IN PROGRESS. I have all of the items in one place but I haven’t yet organized them on their cart. Stay tuned!

HEALTH/FITNESS
Exercise 15 days per month-Completed 13
Strength Training-4 days per week. Completed 0
Steps-7000 steps-16 days per month-Completed 21
Water Intake-Drink 64 ounces-27 days per week-Completed 28
Even though I didn’t complete all of my goals, I am proud that I am getting better at drinking water and staying hydrated. The next habit I’m working on developing with the water intake is to finish drinking earlier in the day.

SPIRITUAL
Weekly friend contact-I had 2 in person contacts this month which is 2 fewer than intended but still progress. I imagine this one will become easier the more my friends are vaccinated and things open up a bit more.

FINANCIAL
Weekly Budget Review-Ugh!! I’m doing the budgeting in my head but that’s not good enough!
Savings Challenge-DONE. I will continue to do this challenge but I’m changing it up for May.

FINANCIAL

*Savings Challenge-I will now transfer money electronically into my savings account weekly. One of the goals of this challenge is to practice saving and make it as regular and natural as paying bills.
*Do the budget for May and then spend time catching up to reconcile the budgets from previous months.
*Schedule a time toward the end of each month to work on the next month budget. It is clear to me that this is an area that I avoid and I need to be very intentional about completing budgeting tasks.

That’s it for this May. I’m feeling much more encouraged about my goals and intentions and not beating myself up when something doesn’t happen. I am getting more done when I write things down and share them with you. And that is something to celebrate!!

You definitely have reason to be proud of your hydration – it’s come a long way! But you completely glossed over exceeding your movement goal of 16 days at 7000 steps. You pretty much crushed it with 21 days!

I have a tip that may help with some of the goals that you’ve traditionally not been able to achieve, like strength training. My health coach always asks for my weekly objectives in different areas, then asks how confident I am on a scale of 1 to 10 that I will achieve the goal. If I don’t have at least an 8, she asks me what I can do to bring me to an 8. It might involve reducing the number of times I want to do something or amount that I want to do (like calories), down to the level that I’m almost 100% certain I can do.

Once I hit a goal 2 or 3 weeks in a row, I can feel more confident to increase the goal. It also builds self trust that you will do what you say.
