As we begin to open up a bit more and more folks are getting vaccinated, I am starting to leave the house more often and now need to wear clothes that aren’t yoga pants and sweats!
I am definitely happy to be at this point but I never expected to have to learn how to get dressed again! I love clothes and fashion but am learning that putting outfits together is not only an art but also a skill-one that I am happy to re-learn.
Today, I’m going to share with you a few of the outfits I have worn to go to the office and to see clients. Some of the items are new but most have been hanging in my closet just waiting for some attention.
FIT #1
This is a demin dress from Universal Standard and it is a recent purchase. I love that it has pockets and can be worn throughout the year. Today, I have it paired with some black leggings (old) and ankle booties (old).
I’m also sharing my “arm candy”-just because I thought it was fun!
FYI-this dress is long enough that I will wear it with no leggings when it gets warmer. It would also be cute with flats or sneakers for a more casual look. A belt would give it a more fitted/structured look.
FIT #2
This outfit consists of a polka dot shirt (new) with cropped white jeans (old) and a sleeveless waterfall duster (old). I like to wear dusters like this because it provides some coverage without adding heat. The shirt is a bit sheer especially this sleeves. While the shirt is a newer purchase, it was bought on clearance and is no longer available on the gibsonlook website.

These pants are fun!! They are not for everyone and remind me of “MC Hammer” pants from the 1990’s. But I love the look of them. They are new-ish and are from an African-American designer, Rakia Reynolds. The brand is EVRYDAY JANE and items are available on their website as well as HSN. The t-shirt is old from H&M in Las Vegas. The ankle strap leopard print flats are also old.
These pants have a great deal of volume and not everyone will be comfortable in them. I find them rather avant-garde and they are very comfortable. They also dress up and down quite easily. You’ll see in the previous photos I knotted the t-shirt to reduce its volume. With pants like this, you’ll want to wear something fitted on top.
I added a very old knit jacket with 3/4 length sleeves. In case you’re wondering, the shirt says OK in black sequins.
FIT #4
I like all of these outfits but this one is my favorite type of outfit. I literally have on 2 pieces-the jumpsuit and the duster. You can do so much (or little) with this type of outfit with jewelry and accessories. I opted to keep it simple.
Both of these pieces are old and both are from Amazon. Another piece that can be dressed up or down depending on the shoes and accessories. Once again, I love the pockets.
As I write this, I’m considering buying a couple more colors-that’s how much I like this piece!
That’s a wrap on this first edition of Getting Dressed for 2021. My hope is that I am able to share all types of outfits because I’m out in the world living.
Any favorites? What do you think about the “hammer” pants? Would you wear them? Share in the comments.
Love the fashion happenings! You look great in all of them 😊
