I’m plugging along on this office update and am fairly confident that I will be done by the end of the month!
In the meantime, today I’m sharing what is often my favorite part of projects-the DIY decor! It’s these details that finish off a room and make it personal and unique.
Bulletin Board
I don’t know about most but I usually need a bulletin board close to me to put up pictures, inspirational items or just keep notes that I need in my line of vision. As a general rule though, most bulletin boards are plain and boring. I decided to jazz mine up a bit by adding fabric! I’ve had this fabric on hand for a few years (not sure why because I don’t sew) and it was the right color for the space.
This is the bulletin board I used-very basic, nothing special. I guess technically it’s really called a cork panel because there’s no frame around it. Originally, I was thinking about putting around frame around it in addition to the fabric put I couldn’t find anything that I liked and I did like just the fabric enough to go with it. Here is an idea of what I was originally thinking.
Next up is just a little something fun!
Tissue Box Cover
In my Master Bath makeover, I used a painted mason jar as a tissue holder.
In this refresh, I have a wooden tissue box cover, that I jazzed up with some white chalk paint and word labels that I designed!
Most of us keep tissues on our desks so they may as well be cute and fun!
Office Signs
It wouldn’t be a “trena” makeover without some handmade signs!!
For all of these signs, I did not buy anything. The two 12×12 signs are frames to hold traditional scrapbook pages that I had on hand. The frames were red and I painted them black.
The other two smaller frames were also in my stash and have been for years. I also had the tissue box (& I have another one) and the fabric for the bulletin board on hand.
Without really thinking about it, it has been my goal to use what I have. Some of the items I purchased years ago for another use or project. I knew that I’d being purchasing some of the larger items but I am making it a point to use what I have and get rid of what I don’t use.
I am so happy that I can finally start sharing what I’ve done in my office. It means that I am nearing the end!

Great decor! Bonus points for using thing you already had 🙂 And every time you see the crack in the acrylic you can take it as an allegory – like you won’t let little setbacks get in the way of your dreams!!!
