Monthly Goals-February

I’m running a bit behind schedule but it’s only because I’ve (1) been focused on getting my office finished and (2) the 2nd semester of my Italian class started 01/20 and I haven’t managed my time well. I love taking Italian but there is a great deal of homework with the class and it really needs to be spread out throughout the week. My time management skills are definitely a work in progress!

One of the things I decided to do differently this year is to adjust my mindset about my goals. In the past, when I didn’t meet a goal, I would feel a little bad. This year, I want to give myself a bit more grace because the reality is that I AM working hard and diligently to meet my goals. If a goal isn’t met, there is generally a good reason even if that reason is that I just didn’t get to it.
This also applies with my health and fitness goals. Again, the reality is that any progress forward is GOOD progress and should be acknowledged and not discounted. I will of course continue to make a valiant effort towards meeting the goals. This is not an excuse to slack off!

January Goals Review

HOME

Finish the refresh of my office-IN PROGRESS
Get rid of the armoire-IN PROGRESS. My idea was that I would contact a charity company to pick it up but due to COVID no one is doing that right now. Thankfully, my friend, Michyle, came over and helped me to move it out of the office and into another area of my home where it’s out of the way. It took ALL of our strength, about 1 hour and a FaceTime call with Michyle’s husband to help with logistics and we did it!! Moving it out of the office enabled me to move forward with the refresh. The big stuff is pretty much done and now I’m working on the smaller details which always takes longer than anticipated.

CREATIVE

Make 3 birthday cards-DONE

HEALTH

Drink 64 ounces of water 24 days-22
7,000 steps for 20 days-16
Workout 3 times per week/12 times-14
Strength Train 1 time per week/4 times-2

SPIRITUAL

Mask 3 times per week/12 times-6

FINANCIAL

Track spending-DONE
$2 per week savings challenge-DONE
No spend month-Partial Success-I’m calling this a partial success because I did not do a complete no spend. The part that was successful was (1) being really thoughtful about purchases and (2) keeping a list of items that I might want to purchase after the no spend month. While I only bought one unplanned for item (a webcam), I was a little too loose with my food category. I allowed myself to buy lunch on the days that I was out and about visiting clients about 4 times this month. When I did no spend months in the past, I always made sure to pack my lunch. Even though I do have an eating out category in my budget, in the future this will be an area that I tighten up. When I don’t allow myself to spend money in this area (during the no spend months), I tend to eat much better which works out better for my waist and my wallet!!
While I’m not doing a no spend for February, I will continue to practice being thoughtful about purchases and not making impulse purchases. This part I feel really good about.

I’m also feeling good about not being too hard on myself while also working to meet my own expectations.
