As I wrap up my office refresh, it’s time to start thinking about and prepping for what to do next. I’m not done with the office and I won’t be moving on until I am done, but I know that I want to work on either my living room or craft area next.
My mind has been racing with ideas especially for the living room and I want to get them down now so I can reflect & plan in the future. While none of the ideas are set in stone, one thing that is for certain is that I will paint the walls. Painting by itself can transform a space. Choosing paint is quite the chore for me. At this point, I know that I want a lighter color in the living room and I don’t think that I want white. I am very much in an exploratory phase where I’m looking around online at lots of different colors. I will likely narrow down to my 3 faves and then put samples up on the wall.
Today, I’m going to share my tentative plans thoughts and color ideas. Please feel free to share any thoughts you have in the comments.
Current Paint Color
This is my current living room wall color and I have loved it for 16 years. I’m feeling the need to lighten it up now as the room sometimes feels very dark especially in the winter. There is no overhead lighting in the room so lightening up the paint color can help with that.
Possible Paint Colors
These are the colors that I like so far. I’m seeing a lighter tan beige pattern in these choices!
Other Ideas
I’ve mentioned in the past that I want to have less visual clutter in my spaces. I like the idea of a larger tv stand with shelves and doors to achieve this.
I’m also considering adding a couple of bookshelves on either side to create a sort of entertainment center look as well as supply some storage and decor.
I’m pretty certain that I will also get rid of the two end tables next to the couch but I’m not sure if I’ll replace them or not.
Before/Now
This is what it all looks like now. This tv wall will be the main focus and get the majority of the attention. I’m also considering making this wall an accent color and painting the rest of the room the lighter color. The accent could be a color, wallpaper or some other type of wall treatment.
The candle holder over the fire place is leaving but I have no idea yet what will replace it.
Of course, the very first thing that I will do is declutter. Most of these items need new homes. My annual Project Life albums need their own place to live.
I am open to any thoughts and ideas you might have on paint colors, furniture arrangement, anything. While picking out paint colors is a bit of a stressful chore for me, the design of the room and accessorizing is the fun part.
I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to do any furniture moving/re-arranging. As I get more into this project, I’ll put up some photos of the full room-the other side of the tv wall and then you can weigh in!
You’ll notice that I haven’t mentioned my craft space. This space sits in the other side of my living room and really what it needs is decluttering. There will not be a ton of painting or rearranging of this space. After the office, I could very well tackle this space next because it is a smaller project (in some ways) and less intensive than the living room. The craft space and the living room do share a wall so whatever paint is chosen will go in this space as well.
