Small Projects-Guest Room Closet

small projects-guest room

This was a project that was on my monthly goals list. The idea was to de-clutter the home decor from this closet as well as the hall closet and linen closet. I wanted to have all of my decor items in one spot so that I can see what I actually have.
Just for reference, this is general home decor-vases, storage containers, etc….My seasonal decor is already organized and is stored in bins in my hall closet. Every season when I change the decor, I actually go through it and determine if there is anything I no longer want. Also, if I decorate a couple of times and don’t use an item, I usually get rid of it.

And it Begins…….

As usual, I start by pulling everything out of the closet. This is a fairly large closet with one side housing office supplies and the other housing the decor. The dresser has craft projects and supplies. I also had to pull decor from the hall and linen closets.

And the real work begins……..

Pulling the items out is not hard work but seeing it all out can be a bit overwhelming. At times, I found myself turning in circles not knowing where to start. Ultimately, I got some boxes and started separating out what I was going to keep and what was going to be donated. That made it feel much more manageable.

The Final Result (for now)

One thing that I’ve learned during all of my goals and decluttering process is that this is never done. It has to be maintained and adjusted as needs change. I used to hate that idea but now I welcome it. It’s freeing to know that if something is working, great! But if something isn’t working or needs change, it’s not a failure, it’s an adjustment. I am also learning to live with a lot less stuff. That one is actually really easy to get used to. It’s much nicer to be able to see what you have and then use it!

Another project completed! It took a full day to get it all done. I actually thought that it would take longer so I was pleasantly surprised.
