You know doing one project can lead to another and then another?? Well, this is one of those. Last week, I shared that I will be re-doing my office/guest room. Additionally, another goal was to declutter and reorganize the home decor in that same room. My goal was to get all of my home decor into the same place instead of spread out in various closets. Stay tuned for that update!
I had some home decor/home storage items in the linen closet and needed to get it into the guest room closet. I also am working on getting my tools into a more centralized location. Many of my tools are in the filing cabinet in my office.
So, I moved many of those items into the linen closet! ARE YOU STILL WITH ME?????
There are many things going on here which is helping to meeting several complimentary goals!!
Doing the linen closet was not a full stop clear out. It was more a re-organization. Once the home decor/home storage items were out, I had room to work with.
BEFORE
I decided to move a couple of shelf items around to make it easier for me to see and use them. I use my tools often but having the tool box and other items on the top shelf was difficult due to the heaviness of the items.
The guest bedding and pillows being on the floor made them easy to access when I had guests but the floor is really prime location for heavier items.
And I moved the cleaning products up so that they are more at eye level and slightly more accessible.
AFTER
And, the good news is that I actually have some space left! The area next to the paper towels and kleenex will be filled with toilet paper after I get to the store.
The tools and other home improvement/repair items are now easily accessible on the lower shelf and floor.
I do have some other lesser used tools in the cabinet in the office but the plan (right now) is to get a dresser (to replace the tv stand) and put those items in there. Ultimately I would like to get rid of the filing cabinet.
It will all make sense when all is said and done!
It was a few days of working between the guest room closet, hall closet and the linen closet moving items around but in the end it was worth it.
