Just like many folks, I am having to find ways to use my time. And reading books and watching tv are two of my favorites. Usually, I have read many more books but this month was not to be. I tend to listen to books when I drive for work but I have been sheltering in place since mid-March. And, I often read while on my lunch break but that is not happening regularly either.
This month I will share the 3 books that I did mange to get through as well as 2 tv shows that I’ve been enjoying.
BOOKS
Continuing on from last month, I read another Jasmine Guillory book, The Wedding Party. This is book 3 of 4. I’ve already read the Wedding Date and The Proposal. This 3rd book includes characters from the first two books though they were fairly minor characters. I do enjoy that all of the characters appear in all of the books.
This book series was very popular a few years ago. It is a series of 3 books and this is the first. I listened to this one and was hooked. It is about a very powerful witch and a vampire who join forces to find an old manuscript that lots of witches, demons, and vampires are looking for. It’s part underworld, science, history and romance all rolled into one. And yes, I am currently listening to Book 2 and loving it. The books are long listens-Book 1 is 24 hours and Book 2 is 25 minutes over 24 hours. It’s the perfect length while doing while sheltering in place!!
I read this book based on a recommendation and I was not disappointed. It is a psychological thriller with lots of twists and turns that I did not see coming. The end of the book is equally shocking and has me hoping that there is a sequel. I did read recently that this book is being made into a film.
This author has other books that have been recommended and I plan on giving them a try.
TELEVISION
Homecoming is on Amazon Prime and came out in 2018. I had heard good things about it and needed to find a series that I could binge quickly. The series has 10 episodes that are about 30 minutes each. It is a show that takes hold and makes you want to find out what happened. I did not know what the premise was and just watched on pins and needles with each episode.
Grace and Frankie on Netflix is a show that makes me laugh out loud. It is irreverent, well written and smart. It deals with very adult topics in ways that are sometimes touching and sometimes hysterical. This is a show with older adults (Jane Fonda is 80 years old!!) as the leading, main characters. There are 6 seasons with this season being the last (I haven’t watched it yet). I have 3 episodes left in season 5 and found myself on the couch busting out laughing!!
This is a show that can definitely take your mind off of all the craziness in the world right now. It’s feel good without being stupid.
I plan hope to read and watch much more in these upcoming weeks. I’ll share the good (and hopefully no bad) in a future post.
