Being Creative & Crafty

Another goal achieved!! I promised myself that I would engage in more crafty creativeness this year and this month I did myself proud.
I made a t-shirt and some tea towels for the Superbowl party I went to. I spend football season watching football with a really fun group and I wanted to do something special since our team made the Superbowl (49ers). Even though the game didn’t turn out as we’d hoped, we had tons of fun!

And here I am wearing my handmade t-shirt!

This is the first time I used this technique using printable heat transfer paper. I printed the design out and then used my Cricut Easy Press to iron or press on the design.
One lesson I learned is that using material that is polyester or a poly/cotton blend works better to get a crisp image than 100% cotton. The tea towels which are called flour sack towels are 100% cotton and have a crinkle to them. The image just doesn’t show up as brightly as it does on the t-shirt.

OSCAR PARTY

I did some crafting for my Oscar party as well. Not sure what inspired me but I handmade some rosettes and put photos of the nominated actors for the Best Actor/Actress categories as well as the Best Picture category.
I like the flowers a lot and will probably do these more for future decorations.

I also made a sign with 2 smaller rosettes. The sign is fairly basic but the rosettes take it up a notch.

One of the things I realized is that I am ready to change the paint color in my living room. I have loved it for 15 years but I’m feeling the itch to brighten up the wall. Not sure that it will get included on this year’s list but it just might!

So far, my crafting is going strong!! I am really going to try and maintain some monthly creativity.
