BoxyCharm Subscription Beauty Box Review

I recently started receiving a new (to me) subscription beauty box. Several years ago, I received Birchbox (which is now sold at Walgreens) and Ipsy. Both of those boxes were $10 per month with free shipping.
All beauty boxes have basically the same structure-answer a quiz about your likes, dislikes, coloring and you receive beauty products from different companies every month. Everything from hair care, skin care and make up. Most of the products are sample sizes and come from well known and not well known brands.
I usually enjoyed my boxes but one thing that I didn’t care for was (1) the size of the products (2) getting the same type of products (especially makeup) and (3) not getting great colors in the makeup and (4) getting hair products (I’m really particular about my hair care products). The makeup colors tend to be geared to lighter skin tones (though in real life I’m considered medium brown) so often the lipsticks and face makeup colors did not work for me.

October and November

PRESENT DAY

So now, I’m trying BoxyCharm. Why, you ask? Because as I’ve mentioned in other posts, I really like trying new makeup and skincare but it can get really pricey. BoxyCharm offers full sized products and I was able to opt out of the hair care.
So far, I am really happy with what I’ve received. I really like receiving makeup tools as well which I did not anticipate.

This is what I received in these first two months.
OCTOBER
Tarteist Pro Glow & Blush-$45
Iconic-plumping lip gloss-$26
Becca-under eye brightening setting powder-$25
Touch in Sol-Glassy skin balm-$32
Chella-slanted tip tweezers-$20

NOVEMBER
Celestial Thunder Eye Shadow palette-$35
Dose Liquid Matte lipstick in Flirty-$18
Juice Beauty-anti-wrinkle eye treatment-$50
Popband Eye Masks-$10
Makeup Brushes-$35

The box comes with a card which describes the products but I tend to get rid of it once I pull the products out!

COST

I paid for a 6 month membership at $23 per box. The box on a month to month is $25 per month. It is more than the $10 per month boxes but they contents are way more valuable. The products in both boxes retail for $148 each.

CONCLUSION

My early verdict on this subscription box is positive. I am very happy with the size of the products-full vs sample. I’m happy with the brands some I know and some that I don’t. I like the addition of tools as well as the mix of skin care and make up. To date, everything I’ve received I can use! If I should get something that doesn’t work for me, one of my friends will be the beneficiary.

Do you get any beauty boxes? Thoughts? Do you think they’re worth it or no?
