Exploring Las Vegas 2019

If you read my last post, you know that I was in Las Vegas recently for a planner conference. To maximize our experience, we built in time for exploring.
Even though I’ve been to Vegas a ton of times, there is so much to do and see that it doesn’t really get old. You can be as busy or as chill as you desire. Debbie and I did a bit of both!

Vegas Arrival

When we arrived, we checked into to our hotel expecting that we’d just drop our bags off and go. However, they were ready for us so we brought everything to our room, changed into our swimsuits and headed off to the Paris Hotel for our cabana rental!

It was a really nice day-hot enough that being in the cabana was great but not so hot that it was unbearable. The rental came with a fruit tray, unlimited waters (there’s a refrigerator in the cabana) and 4 frozen drinks. I got frozen lemonade with vodka while Debbie enjoyed a drink called a Miami which was frozen lemonade and strawberry with vodka.
We spent a relaxing day reading and dozing.
We did go to Shake Shack during the trip but not that first day.

Post Conference in Vegas

After the conference ended, we had all day Sunday to explore. One of my favorite parts of Sunday was not having to use an alarm to wake up! We slept in and it was glorious.
Later we went towards the strip to just walk around and go where the mood struck. We did play some quarter machines along the way but gambling was not the focus.

A flamingo at The Flamingo, the Vegas eye and dinner at Virgil’s.

We did a ton of walking which was great. We walked through several hotel/casinos to just check out the atmosphere and then had dinner at a BBQ restaurant named Virgil’s. This place is really good. My favorite thing is their buttermilk biscuit with honey maple butter-DELICIOUS!!

We also walked around the Bellagio which never disappoints with its floral displays. They change them at least seasonally and it’s always worth it to see what they’ve done.

Next it was onto the Venetian to explore it’s offerings. I hadn’t been there for several years and it also did not disappoint. The painted ceilings, gondolas, shops and all of the food offerings were well worth the walking. We went to Buddy V’s (Cake Boss) for desserts which we brought back to our hotel. Debbie had a confetti birthday cake and I had a chocolate mousse dipped in chocolate. We were both under whelmed with our treats (which were not inexpensive)!

Vegas Departure

Our flight didn’t leave until close to 5 and we had to check out by 10:30 so we made good use of our time. We went to Downtown Vegas-Fremont Street for breakfast. We ate at Binon’s restaurant where we had an old school and very good breakfast special.
We then went to what turned out to be my most favorite part of the trip. In my many years of going to Vegas, I have never been to the Neon Boneyard Museum. They have old neon signs from old casinos. Seeing the signs invokes so many memories.
On my next trip to Vegas, I will definitely be going at night when the signs are all light up. Seeing the signs in person is an awesome experience!

Tell me, do you have any trips planned? Any favorite spots in Vegas?
