Hallway Refresh-Gallery Wall Update

After much hemming and hawing and a great deal of procrastination, the final gallery wall is done! I’ll let the photos do the talking but will tell you again that this hallway is really hard to photograph.  It gets no natural light, is long and narrow, and because glass is involved my reflection is sometimes part of the picture.

All the photos are originals taken with my camera except for two which are prints.

The final step in this refresh is to spot clean and then shampoo the carpet.  An end to this project is in sight!!

The first thing I did was to lay out the photos and other ephemera to give myself an idea of how the layout would look and what other pieces enhance or take away from the photos.  I had taken a photo of the wall as it was before I painted and I initially laid it out the same way. I found this step really helpful even though the final product is a bit different from what I had laid out.

I wish this hallway was easier to photograph!!

From this view, you can see both gallery walls!

This is a photo with Michael Luwoye who played Alexander Hamilton in the San Francisco production of Hamilton. I fell in love with the production two years before I had the pleasure to see it live.
The vertical collage is a photo of my mom with all of us kids, myself, my niece and my sister taken at Outside Lands music festival, and a holiday photo with the Northern California Book Club Babes (2 members missing).

This horizontal collage contains a photo with my friend, Michele, a photo of the famous Fisherman’s Wharf wheel, and a family photo with me, my baby sister, my aunt, my niece, and my mom.  The final photo is of the San Francisco Bay with sailboats on the water and fog settling over the Golden Gate Bridge.

These two photos were both taken at La Nebbia Winery in Half Moon Bay. FYI-the photo with the wine glasses is of a bocce ball court!  It reminds me of an Italian country side estate though!

These are the only two that are not originals.  The Egyptian print was gifted to me from a friend and the other is a favorite saying of mine by Maya Angelou.

This is a photo of me taken in 1978 in London! It is not the best quality photo but that was such a memorable and significant trip for me that I really wanted to include a photo from that trip.

If there is any theme in my gallery, it’s that I love photos with family and friends.  I don’t care what the design experts say I like looking at photos of my life and my life includes those I love!

Now that I am VERY close to the finish line on this project, I feel invigorated and ready to move forward with other tasks.

Tell me, how do you feel when you are near the end of a big project-share in the comments.
