Plannercon?  What the heck is Plannercon???  Well, it’s like ComicCon but for paper planner enthusiasts. These enthusiasts run the gamut from those who engage in bullet journaling, traveler’s notebooks and traditional paper planning. Some of us choose to decorate our planners with stickers and other ephemera while others call themselves functional planners meaning they don’t decorate or do so very minimally.

Plannercon hosts workshops and vendor booths from the likes of Carpe Diem, Filofax, Sweet Stamp Shop, Pen Gems, Posh Pieces, Paper Panduh, Erin Condren and others. Workshops included Memory Planning, Hobonichi, Using your Silhouette in planning, Digital Planning, and lettering sponsored by Tombow. There are keynote addresses in addition to the workshops and lots of opportunities to shop.

I use a vertical, neutral, Erin Condren for work and a classic sized Happy Planner in a Carpe Diem cover for personal use. I choose to use two different planners for work and personal because my work involves confidential information that I prefer not be mixed in with my private life. I enjoy using stickers in both but my planners are an extension of my brain so it can’t just be fun and pretty, it has to work!

I took 3 workshops; Memory Planning with Carpe Diem, Goal Setting with Kitlife, and Using your Silhouette. I also enjoyed keynote speeches from Kristy Dickerson of the Start Planner, Nicole Rixon from the Sweet Stamp Shop and Amy Tangerine. There was also a hosted panel with Kayla and Alex Benda of Hello Stationary, Angel Elizabeth from Pen Gems, Melissa Dunfer from Posh Pieces, and Irene Kwong from Simply Gilded.  They generously shared their stories of how they got their businesses started, what challenges they faced, and how planners and planning fit into their lives.  The speakers were all really good.  I was not familiar with most of the speakers and found myself wanting to buy their products to support them after hearing their stories!  One of the messages that they all shared was that there is room for everyone! They were all very encouraging.

Planner friends are the best!

Paper planning is not for everyone but it is another way that I express my creativity in my daily life.  My planner is NOT instagram ready but it works for me. Writing things down and decorating my planner is not only a stress reliever it’s also recreational enjoyment.

I attended the first Plannercon last year and have already paid for Plannercon 2019!!

What’s your planning style?
