Craft Space-where the magic happens

In addition to writing this blog, I love to craft! Crafting is a somewhat new hobby for me in that I picked it up much later in life.  As a child, I was not really what you’d call CREATIVE.  I liked to read, play sports, watch tv and listen to music.

Sometime in my 40’s I started scrapbooking.  One day I went to a scrapbooking meet up that was held at the home of a woman who was Stampin’ Up demonstrator who showed me how to make cards.  I was hooked!  I love the end result of scrapbooking but it is a process that can take a while to complete. With making cards, you get to the end result fairly easily and quickly even with a more intricate card.

Since that time, I have been more open to trying different craft techniques. In addition to making cards and doing Project Life, I’ve also made some home decor items which has led me to trying my hand at different home repair and maintenance tasks.  I find it really interesting that my love of crafting has led me to attempting different home repair projects!

I have a dedicated craft space located in my living room that I love BUT what I don’t love is how messy I am and how I don’t clean up after each project.  The truth is the bigger the project, the messier it gets and the higher the likelihood that I won’t clean it up when I’m done! I also leave stuff out while I’m working on a project which could take weeks!

I make holiday cards every year and that is often a really big project.  In 2017, I participated in my first ever craft fair so I didn’t just make one card for the holidays I made several for the fair.  That project took a long time and by the time the craft fair was over I was not interested in doing any crafting for a while!  Unfortunately, that also meant that I didn’t feel like cleaning up my work space either.  When I had some birthday cards to make in January, I just pushed stuff over and went at it.

However, I am now at the point where I am ready to have a clean crafting space.  I am making some cards to swap at Plannnercon 2018 which is being held in Burlingame, CA in early March.  Also, I am hosting my annual Oscar party on March 4th and though my friends won’t care I want the space to not look like a complete disaster area!

I really want to try this year to not leave the space a wreck when I’m done with projects.  I am definitely more creative when I have a clean space to work with.

So tell me, is there an area that you struggle to keep neat and organized?
