Because I’m not all about home repair and craft fairs, I went out with a friend to an event called Dueling Pianos this past Saturday night. Generally, I enjoy going out and listening to music, dancing, movies, dinner and socializing in general. As much as I enjoy being a homebody, going out feeds my social soul. Dueling Pianos is a way to have fun and be a little crazy!
Dueling Pianos bills itself as a lounge show with lots of audience participation. There are two grand pianos facing each other and the players duel it out playing songs requested by the audience. It’s a contest but there’s no winner (except the audience who gets to pick the tunes and then sing along).
The music goes across all genres and time periods but I must confess that the 90’s are a personal fun favorite of mine. One of the players was more of a classic rock guy and the other handled a lot of the other genres. My one complaint is that neither could do songs with a female lead too well. However, I will say they were able to handle the majority of requests including country, rock, rap and even show tunes!
Dueling Pianos is a great choice for a group event or if you and a friend just want to hang out, have a couple of drinks, and scream songs!
