PROJECT LIFE-MY MEMORY KEEPING PROCESS AND PLAN

Today I’d like to share the start of my 2017 Project Life album. I’ve been doing project life which was created by Becky Higgins since 2010 & I love it.

For the uninitiated, project life is a pocket style of scrapbooking that is done either digitally or using physical product.  It is basically a photo per day project to document the beauty of everyday life.  Most of us find it easy to document the big events but the truth is that memories are made in the day to day.  The beauty of project life though is that it can be whatever you want it to be-daily, weekly, monthly or by event!

Title/Introduction Page

Creating traditional scrapbooking layouts can be time consuming and if not done on a regular basis you can get behind fairly quickly. One of the goals of Project Life that you don’t have to ever feel like you’re behind on your layouts. You don’t have to stick to a time frame; just take a picture of something in your daily life and write about it.

I do project life in what might be considered the traditional way-I use physical product (as opposed to digital) & one photo per day everyday for the year. I start on January 1 and end on December 31.  And then I start all over again next year!!

I really love doing project life & I enjoy going back to look at my older albums. I do, however, get behind! I don’t print photos on the regular and then I don’t create my layouts consistently. Every January 1, I swear that I will work on my album each week. Of course, I never do!

At this point, I have photos printed through August but my album is only finished up through May. But, the beauty of project life & the way I work it is that I still take photos & then at some point will do a massive catch up session. I actually enjoy these sessions so I don’t get too stressed out about it.

I use the Collect app to save the photo I plan to use for that day. Each month, I print all of the photos for that month at one time. Ideally, each week I would have the cards written out & placed in my album but in real life I write them out after I get my photos. I take my daily photos with my iPhone and usually have them printed out at my local Walgreen’s.  I am considering using my home printer to see if that helps me to stay up to date better.

Do you do any type of regular scrapbooking or memory keeping?  Share in the comments.
